We hear that the band hooked them up with some very cool stuff that they are now going to give to you (Autograph drumheads and more). Head over to http://stores.musictoday.com/slipknot where you can find out more about the contest and pre-order the record. The contest ends this Friday, so be quick or be sorry!

11 QUESTIONS WITH JOEY JORDISON - 05.10.2004

"Aw, man," tells Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, "the most fucked-up one that there ever was - and I kinda almost don't like to say anything, because it was horrible — we were playing in Hamburg, Germany and we had this idea. We'd never played the actual song 'Iowa' off of Iowa, the title track, which is the last song on the record. We'd never played it live, so we were gonna do a half-hour version of it. So we got drunk and fucked-up before we did it because the song's really mental and it's really syrupy and shit. And then at the very end, though, we got cold feet and decided to do the whole set. But by that time Corey was so fucked-up he couldn't remember the words to any of the songs. So it was just a horrible fuckin' show."

THAT, folks, would be the worst SK show of all time...but fear not, as the Knot is rolling stronger than ever now. Read the full interview with Joey - along with 10 other highpoints at IGN Insider.

Now check this out: A station out of Fresno (KRZR) played "Duality" FOUR times in a row this past Wednesday. True. Have you ever? We haven't...never. That being said, we give a shout out to MD/afternoon jock Rick Roddam at KRZR in Fresno for his selection on Wednesday.

LIKE IT'S 1999 - 04.05.2004

It has almost been a week since Slipknot returned to the stage. And now that there are a few shows under the band's belt, you can now find a few new photos in the band's PHOTO GALLERY (special thanks to www.robbsphotos.com and www.error404media.com for the shots).

In other Slipknot news, you can now download new track "Pulse Of The Maggots" here on the Roadrunner site, check our MUSIC section for the MP3.

AND LAST, last we leave you with a first-hand account of the first Slipknot show, an unbiased opinion, as written by a southern Roadrunner employee who saw the first show in Florida. As follows:

"Tuesday night in Orlando, FL @ The Hard Rock Live, Slipknot started off the Jager Tour, not with a bang, but with a massive explosion! It was ridiculous. It was by far one of the TOP 3 Shows I have ever seen in my life. Maybe the BEST. So much energy, so tight. They just sounded amazing. The crowd response was great. The whole venue was one big mosh pit.

"The show was Sold Out with I believe around 3000 people. There was no spinning drum kit or spinning percussion. No pyro, no novelty stage show. Just the standard lighting and a rockin' Slipknot.

"They played for about 1 hour 15 minutes with very little breaks in between the songs. I heard about 4 new songs, which all sounded great.
The whole band was so pumped for this show. I was talking to Jim Root about 20 minutes before the show and he said, 'It feels like 1999 all over again.'

"I am seeing them again tonight in W. Palm Beach (again Sold Out) and can not wait. I don't feel like a Roadrunner employee going to cover a show...I feel like a hard core Slipknot fan going to see a show that I've been waiting on for 3 years.

"All I can say is, watch out...Slipknot is coming your way very soon and you WILL be amazed.

and I'm out..."

BACK ON THE ROAD - 03.31.2004

Well, last night marked Slipknot's return to the stage, their first show since 2002. Tonight (3/31) marks the second. To all in West Palm Beach attending the show, enjoy.

To those not in West Palm Beach and going to the show tonight, make sure to check out the June 2004 issue of Metal Edge, which is on the street now. You can check out the cover of the issue - Slipknot being on the cover - HERE.

WHEN THE CLOCK STRIKES, MIDNIGHT - 03.29.2004

So, Slipknot shot the video for "Duality" this past weekend in Des Moines, an event marked as "the biggest film event in Des Moines since the 1994 shooting of the flick The Bridges of Madison County." Apparently, true. However, that is neither here nor there...you can check out one account of the video shoot HERE.

And remember, come midnight tonight (when the clock turns to 3/30 in Iowa), you will be able to download new Slipknot music at http://www.slipknot1.com/.

READY, SET, SHOOT - 03.26.2004

First off, we'd like to send a thanks out to all the fans who showed up at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in West Des Moines this past Wednesday for the Slipknot video shoot casting call. It was a great turn-out. That being said, the actual video - for the track "Duality" - will be shot this Saturday (3.27) in Des Moines. To everyone that will be there, enjoy the day.

On another note, somewhat related/somewhat not, literally right outside the Roadrunner office in NYC right now, a movie scene is being shot. From the signs listed on the street polls, it is called Dark Water. In fact, as this is being written, a handful of Roadrunner nerds are lookin' out the window at this.

ON ANOTHER MORE SLIPKNOT RELATED NOTE, make sure to check the band's website - http://www.slipknot1.com/ - this coming Monday night/Tuesday morning (starting on 3/30 at midnight Iowa Time). Your first listen of new Slipknot from the upcoming CD will be waiting for you. A song called "Pulse Of The Maggots."

THE ULTIMATE MOTOCROSS EXPERIENCE - 02.20.2004

So, May 25th is the release date. April 30th is the start of the tour. BUT, when are you going to start hearing new music from Slipknot? Technically, the first chance you will have to hear any new Slipknot will be off a video game. The upcoming PS2 game MTX: Mototrax will contain an early recording of a song titled "Don't Get Close" (a song from the upcoming SK album). MTX: Mototrax hits streets March 3rd.

Also included in the game is an unreleased instrumental version of "The Heretic Anthem" and the "Wait And Bleed," along with 21 other vocal tracks and 12 instrumental tracks to fuel the fast-paced racing and freestyle action in the game (how is THAT for wording?). Players can choose to have an instrumental soundtrack, one with vocals or a combination of the two.

Outside of Slipknot, some of the featured artists and tracks on MTX: Mototrax are:

A.F.I. – "The Nephilim"
Black Label Society – "Doomsday Jesus"
The Descendents – "Everything Sucks Today"
The Distillers – "Dismantle Me"
Disturbed – "Intoxication"
Dope – "Burn"
Faith No More – "Digging The Grave"
Jet – "Take It Or Leave It"
Metallica – "Motorbreath"
The Misfits – "20 Eyes"
Pennywise – "Now I Know"
The Stooges – "Funhouse"
Thrice – "Artist In The Ambulance"

note to self: Come March 1st, we will be giving away a PS2 and 5 copies of the game, along with some Slipknot goods.

note to you: A three-minute Slipknot video will be included in MTX: Mototrax as well as a secret character and bike designed by the band. A special cheat code to unlock the secret character will be placed on the band's upcoming album.

one last note: new Slipknot music outside of the game coming sooner than you'll see Slipknot live.

SLIPKNOT TO HEADLINE - 02.09.2004

Des Moines, IA - Heralded as "One of the best live bands, ever..." by REVOLVER Magazine, SLIPKNOT have nearly completed work on their third studio album and are preparing to hit the road - with devastating effect. The band will be showing off new music and a new stage show, as well as a whole new look - the band's trademark visage will be changing significantly for this new campaign.

Their much-anticipated, as-yet-untitled opus is due in stores on May 25, 2004. While top secret at this point, the lucky few that have heard the Rick Rubin-produced tracks report that it further pushes the boundaries of this enigmatic band, in all directions: heaviness, melody, and musicianship are all racheted up.

Joey (#1) offers, "We're back and it's been far too long. On the tour we are ready to get completely back to basics of delivering unbridled brutality your way. This is for the maggots that have stood by us...prepare!"

On this Jagermeister-sponsored trek, the band take with them label-mates CHIMAIRA and industrial-rock standards, FEAR FACTORY. Select Jagermeister Music bands to open shows. Tour is to start March 30th and run thru May 15th (36 shows in total).

All shows confirmed thus far can be found in our TOUR section. News on purchasing tickets to this tour to follow shortly...

IT'S BACK ON - 01.12.2004

As of today, Slipknot is officially back in the haunted Houdini mansion with producer Rick Rubin, finishing up the recording of their yet-to-be-titled third LP on Roadrunner Records. Word has it the band is still going to lay down 3-4 more full songs, and that Corey is to be elbow deep in vocals over the next couple of weeks. More details to come as the time draws closer...

In other Slipknot related news, drummer Joey Jordison will be taking a couple nights off (1/15 and 1/17, in particular), to play a couple Murderdolls shows in the LA area. Check our TOUR section for full details.

WEEKEND AT THE MANSION - 12.09.2003

This past weekend, on Saturday, December 6th, four lucky Slipknot fans made their way out to the Houdini Mansion in LA to meet the band, and hear the new music.

The four contest winners (as picked previously from www.roadrun.com/welcome), were picked up by Roadrunner's LA press person (Maria Gonzales) at 3:30pm sharp, in the lobby of the Hyatt on Sunset Blvd. At said time, she blindfolded all four contest winners, and along with John (gent who has been filming many-a-moment from the recording of Slipknot's new album in the mansion), stated making their way to the Houdini Mansion.

"It was cool...yet kinda weird," tells Matt, one of the contest winners about the beginning of the journey. After driving around for a about 15 minutes, Maria hung up her cell, turned back, and snarled, "Slipknot ain't ready for ya, yet."

At said point, Matt relays his thoughts turned to "thinking what are they gonna do??? Line us up in a corner and throw shit at us?" Ahh, the initiation into the world of Slipknot?

Around 4pm, the van pulled into the Houdini Mansion, where Slipknot has been recording their third studio album over the past few months. Greeted by Corey, Joey, Mick, Jim, Craig, and Chris, the four unsuspecting souls were taken out to the back, where they were tied up, thrown into the pool on the estate grounds, and left submerged under water until they could free themselves, like the great Houdini himself.

Actually, strike that last line. At said point, the four were taken into the mansion, behind the mixing board, where all the magic has been happening. There, these four guys were the first people outside of camp Slipknot to hear the new music the band has been writing and recording. They heard 4-5 new tracks.

"The new stuff, dude, sounds phenomenal," tells Matt. "Not only is the music better, but the sound is better," he continued. "(The first song played) was an into, I think, very ominous...but maybe it was a full song, it was like 3 minutes long. Then they went into some fast stuff. Then Mick said, 'wait till you hear the heavy stuff.'" At which point, apparently all in the mixing room laughed..."because this WAS heavy," explained Matt. "But he (Mick) was being serious." Matt's last words on the new music, "it's way more intricate, heavy, sounds way better than anything they have done before."

Another winner, Edgar, remembers the day a bit differently: "Saturday was quite an exquisite afternoon. We were blindfolded...filmed by this short white-dude named John...and we were forced to listen to country music inside the Houdini Mansion...oh...and did I mention that in order to get inside they had to perform and enema on all four of us?"

In all seriousness (though Edgar did indeed write the above words), Edgar - who happens to play guitar himself - finally tells, "it was a great feeling to see that I am not the only 6'4" jolly-green-giant that is playing music professionally. Mick Thompson and Jim Root have now become my muse. Everything I do musically now will be because of their musical influences. Thank you all for the opportunity of a lifetime..."

There you have it. It is real. New Slipknot is on the way. To the four winners, glad you had a great time, thanks for participating. You have the distinct pleasure of being the only four people in the world outside of camp Slipknot to have heard any of the new Slipknot.

For the rest of you, you can check out Slipknot's PHOTO GALLERY for 14 pics from the day.

This is just the beginning.

new Slipknot coming early 2004

BIRTHDAY WISHES TO COREY - 12.09.2003

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor. December 9th. Corey, Happy Birthday.

Did you know? One birthday gift for Corey this year happened to be a set of Nightmare Before Christmas Jack Skellington Christmas lights. Apparently, true.

Holed up in the Houdini mansion recording Slipknot's upcoming 2004 release on this fine day, we wish Corey a birthday wish...

UPDATES FROM THE STUDIO - 12.01.2003

a few notes of interest from the studio this week:

Slipknot - still out in LA in the Houdini mansion, Slipknot is currently laying down vocals for their upcoming 2004 release. Actually, they have 3 studios running all over the mansion simultaneously. Literally, just going at it, enjoying writing crazy shit...

MAKING THE NEW SLIPKNOT ALBUM - 11.10.2003

As told before, Slipknot is currently holed up at the Houdini mansion recording their upcoming album. What's the latest word? Drummer Joey Jordison checks in with the following:

"What better place to make the new Slipknot record than an old abandoned mansion in the Hollywood hills, a place where my door will open at 9am every morning no matter what I put in front of it to stop it from happening?

"So here we are, all living together for very the first time in a couple of years and it feels like a family again. As far as the progress of the record, thus far we have all the main tracks done and are in overdub mode currently. I know that all bands say that their 'new' record is gonna be the best, but in all sincerity this is gonna show all the new bands how it's really done. We are comin' back to reclaim the crown of the world's most brutally honest and insane band. Twenty songs have been written for this record and that is something we haven't done before, there is no settling for anything sub standard on this record.....

"I think the time away has only rekindled the spirit that we had in the beginning. Everything you've loved about us is in place and a shitload more....... sit tight cause the new bible is on it's way..... we wont let you down......"

Joey Jordison/Slipknot.... Hollywood CA

THE TIMES OF SLIPKNOT - 11.05.2003

First off, the point of this update is to hip you to the fact that coming 11/18 is the DVD release of Slipknot's Welcome To Our Neighborhood. Contained within this piece that was not on the band's original VHS release of this home video, is never-seen-before footage of the band culled from Clown's personal Slipknot archives (put to the music of "Scissors"). AND, you are invited to check out said footage online at www.roadrun.com/welcome.

For more on Slipknot, check out this month's Guitar World (the one with KORN on the cover). There is a full page studio update on Slipknot. The article appears on page 33.

In other Slipknot news, we have the following press release that just went out (surely you are already aware of the news contained within, but we are just passing it along once again):

CALLING ALL MAGGOTS

NINE-HEADED METAL BEAST IN THE STUDIO WITH RICK RUBIN

New York, NY: Calling all maggots. Point your browser to http://www.slipknot1.com/ for a special message from Slipknot. You'll need QuickTime, version 6, to see the message in its full scope. This exclusive message from the band marks the soft launch of the site, http://www.slipknot1.com/.

Slipknot is currently holed up in the studio, working on the follow up to 2001's Platinum album Iowa with master producer Rick Rubin, who has lent his magic touch to everyone from Slayer to Johnny Cash to the Beastie Boys and L.L. Cool J. Given Rubin's vision and Slipknot's pure, unbridled metal fury, this is a pairing who'll make an album that will undoubtedly send shockwaves through the hard rock scene. The album is tentatively set for release Spring, 2004.

Look for 2004 to be the year of SLIPKNOT.

WELCOME BACK - 10.30.2003

It has been a long time coming. Slipknot, currently holed up in the Houdini Mansion in California with producer Rick Rubin, is working on writing and recording their third full length.

What else? They're back, online. http://www.slipknot1.com/.

UPDATES FROM THE STUDIO - 10.21.2003

Slipknot - it's real. Slipknot is in Cali right now recording a new album. The whole band - all nine members - living together, and recording where they are living. The man himself behind The Production Gospel According To Dave made a trip to the west coast just last week, and could not stop saying enough good things upon his return. The focus. The fire. The band should be cutting guitars this week. Rick Rubin is producing this beast, and recording should be complete before the end of the year.

IT'S JUST GOOD - 10.06.2003

first line: TO MY SURPRISE - And, truly, it is a surprise.

last line: "To My Surprise" is commendable not just because it's different but because it's good.

for all the lines in between, you can read the full review from The New York Times on this album at THIS LINK.

self titled debut To My Surprise release in stores 10/07

THE POWER OF DEATH - 10.01.2003

It's not just the new Nickelback album that is one week old, but also our seven 'Best Of...' releases. Those being, of course, Mercyful Fate, Deicide, King Diamond, Life Of Agony, Madball, Malevolent Creation, and Brujeria.

So what's to tell? On this the one week birthday of these releases, we ask you, which 'Best Of...' release sold the most? C'mon now, give a guess...

As for the answer, Roadrunner's previous Controller would be proud. In fact, if not mistaken, the best selling act is his favorite band on this label. The answer: Deicide.

Did You Know? Joey Jordison (Slipknot/Murderdolls) wrote the liner notes for this Deicide release. Outside of buying their first album in the summer of 1990 after reading Metal Maniacs describe the band as "the most extreme Satanic leviathan of American death metal to grace the underground," Joey's first meeting with the band was in Florida during Ozzfest 2001, right after the band released Insineratehymn. As Joey tells, he listened to that record constantly during the recording of Slipknot Iowa. True.

Deicide leads first week sales in the world of our 'Best Of...' releases, and Slipknot Iowa holds the mark for highest selling first week album in Roadrunner history. Coincidence?

With that in mind, we leave you with the following from Joey's writings on the Deicide liner notes (and of course, we give a shout out to our ex-Controller, Neil):

"It's 3:01 AM on June 13, 2003 and I am currently riding in my tour bus through the darkened hills in the Spanish forests outside Barcelona, writing a piece paying honor to a movement of sorts. Deicide is not just an average band, for without their influence, I might not be on these very roads which I'm upon right now. So kick back and get a drink (a strong one) and sink your teeth into the ultimate in blasphemous, anti-God, unholy, soothing sounds of hell...This is Deicide."

-Joey Jordison

SLIPKNOT MAKE THEIR RETURN - 08.28.2003

For starters, check out THIS LINK, the most recent Slipknot photo (taken 8/14/2003 at the Freddy Vs Jason movie premier)...

and now, a couple of words from the nerds in our press department (and we mean that in the nicest possible way):

Slipknot took a break from recording their upcoming release to stalk the red carpet at the Freddy vs. Jason movie premiere recently in Los Angeles, CA. The band is currently in L.A. recording their next album with world-renowned producer Rick Rubin, whom they are working with for the first time. Slipknot changed the face of hard rock music in 1999 with their self-titled debut album, and "Snap," the track featured on the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack, is a rare track that dates from those sessions. All of Slipknot's previous releases - the albums Slipknot (1999) and Iowa (2001), and the home videos Welcome To Our Neighborhood (1999) and Disasterpieces (2002) - have achieved Platinum sales status, as well as Grammy nods in the Best Metal Category for tracks from both albums.

ON THE WB - 08.25.2003

As you should all know by now, Slipknot is in LA recording their follow up to Iowa. All nine members living and recording together, all being done at the same place.

But what you may not know, is that all nine members hit the premier of the Freddy Vs Jason movie earlier this month. True. In fact, if you check out THIS LINK and click on the Los Angeles Premiere link along the right hand side, you will see some video footage from the red carpet at the movie premier...and Slipknot is included briefly in this footage.

NUMBER ONE - 08.18.2003

So, after one weekend in the theaters, Freddy Vs Jason comes strollin' in at #1. Congrats to all those involved with the movie.

If you have yet to check it out, you will hear new Spineshank and Ill Nino, and even new music from Dez in the form of DevilDriver if you stay and check out the credits in full. Remember, check out www.roadrun.com/freddyvsjason to hear the soundtrack which accompanies the movie, and check out this link to win goods made for the movie.

And speaking of the soundtrack, there is a never before released Slipknot track on it. A track that comes from recording sessions before ever signed to Roadrunner. And speaking of recording, Slipknot is in the studio right now. How is it going so far? "Extremely insane," tells Clown. Extremely insane.

HAUNTING TIMES - 08.12.2003

Late last week, somewhere out in LA, all nine members of Slipknot reunited. It's time. It's time to start work on their third studio CD. This time, producer Rick Rubin will be leading the charge.

The band is currently in the initial stages of pre-production, and should actually start recording come early September.

This is but the beginning...

A THANK YOU TO ALL - 11.04.2002

We would like to send a 'Thank You' to all who attended the Maggot March On NYC this past Friday evening (11/01) at the Manhattan Center in New York City.

For those who were not there, this was a spectacle which needs seen to be believed - hundreds of fans and industry folk in the Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center, all celebrating and watching the upcoming Slipknot 'Disasterpieces' DVD.

The atmosphere was a total carnival - hot dog, cotton candy & popcorn stands, fire breathers, a man hammering nails up his nose, giveaways, a belly dancer, three bars (of course), and a bug eating chick. Clown, Paul, Chris, and Craig from Slipknot were present - all gathered on stage to introduce the DVD.

Coming this Friday (11/08) to the site will be the first of a two part video installment showing this party to all who could not attend, and to those who wish to re-live the experience.

Did You Know? There was a maggot at the event by the name of Joe (dressed in the perfect Clown get up). Joe was the FIRST person in line that day, arriving at 5am. Joe has a (sic) tattoo on his right leg. All four members of Slipknot autographed the tattoo, as Joe had plans of turning the autographs into tattoos the very next day. True. Joe, all the best.

We could go on more, but our description would not really do much for the night. Check our site later in the week for the first video installment...in the meantime, check out the Slipknot Photo Gallery for a few pics from the night.

Slipknot 'Disasterpieces' DVD in stores November 26th

STONE SOUR LIVE - 10.04.2002

Ever wondered what Stone Sour is like live? Here's an excerpt from Volume II of Roadrunner Records' Teazin' Pleazin' Austin Stephens:

"So to my amazement, I had the privilege of witnessing Stone Sour rock, Amphitheater style, this past weekend in the ATL. How much of a pleasure can one band be? First off, the show rocked. I swear Corey must practice head banging in the mirror, he does some aerodynamic shit with his hair, it was like watching a slow motion cannibal corpse video. They started their set with "Get Inside" and the rock just continued from there. They got a real break too, being the direct support of Stone Temple Pilots that night, who was a little off their game.

Anyway, the guys from Stone Sour did a signing for their fans before the set and kids were goin' nuts screaming at Corey, and he always screamed back, the whole band was really excited to meet all the kids and they stayed late to get through the whole line and take pictures. After that they went to a radio booth to do an interview and as soon as it was over the guys started talking to the kids surrounding the booth. These guys are far from stand-offish with fans, it was nice to see!!!"

THIRD IN THE LINE - 10.01.2002

From the Roadrunner Records email newsletter:

So, the date is finally upon us, the release of the third in the line Slipknot-related projects is upon us. First there was Joey Jordison's Murderdolls ('Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls' - 8/20 release) and then Corey Taylor & Jim Root's Stone Sour (self titled - 8/27 release)...and now, Clown's downthesun (self titled - out now). Though not in the band, Clown discovered, created the album artwork, and executive produced the album - the sicness is now 'the truth.' Check out the album, you'll know what we mean.

Make sure to check out downthesun's "Medicated" video, along with a brand new track from the album which we are putting up today - www.RoadrunnerRecords.com/artists/downthesun

Joey's Murderdoll's just finished up playing their first ever East Coast dates - two in New Jersey and one in NYC. Next up, Europe bound. As for Stone Sour, they are in the infancy stages of their first ever U.S. tour, with Chevelle and labelmates Sinch in tow. For all dates, check out www.RoadrunnerRecords.com/tour

OUT & COMING - 08.28.2002

First off, happy release day to Corey and Jim's Stone Sour project. The band's debut release is in stores now...

Make that a double, for as you already know, Joey's Murderdolls debut - Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls - is now officially one week old on the racks...

In other news, tomorrow night in Austria (08/29) will be the last of the week-long Slipknot European tour run. Have you seen any of the shows? Word from the Reading Festival in the UK this past Sunday night (08/25) tells of an "electrifying" show. "Throughout the show there were 3 huge mosh pits going off simultaneously." Oh, and one more tidbit of information from the show: Clown reverted back to his original mask (actually 3rd mask) - no pentagrams, spikes or blood - just a plain old clown mask. True.

Slipknot have been nominated for three Kerrang! Awards: Best Video (My Plague), Best Band In The World, and Best International Live Act.

ONE HAPPY FAMILY - 08.20.2002

Last Week: Last week Stone Sour (featuring Corey Taylor and Jim Root) was playing a show in Des Moines. Word has it that Corey, the consummate frontman, greeted the crowd with lines along the likes of "right here in fucking Des Moines, Iowa - can you really make a difference"...he asked that everyone "promise to make a fucking difference"..."fuck those assholes in City Hall, fuck those corporate icons that try to tell you that Iowa is for old people"...not sure how spot on those quotes are (eh, Mr. Connett?), but you get the idea...

What else last week? Murderdolls (featuring Joey Jordison) was-a most-a honorably playing in Japan. True. What's in a Murderdolls' live show? "Kick ass, that band," replies the man behind The Production Gospel According To Dave (Dave refers to seeing a live video of the band performing at the Whiskey in L.A.) True.

Today: Today? Well, today (08/20) Joey's Murderdolls Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls debut hit the streets.

What else today? Slipknot is back together again, in Portugal right now - a start to a seven date European tour run.

Next Week: After this seven date Slipknot tour run, Joey will be joining up again with Murderdolls for a European run of their own - starting on 08/30 in Germany.

What else next week? Corey and Jim's Stone Sour self titled debut will be hitting the streets (08/27).

The Beyond: Corey and Jim will be joining up again with Stone Sour for a U.S. tour run starting 09/28. Chevelle and labelmates Sinch will be in tow.

What else in the far beyond? Well, not too far beyond, but the Slipknot dvd will be coming...currently scheduled for a late November release. "Very close to being done," tells the man behind The Production Gospel According To Dave. Concert, backstage footage, all on track. Tomorrow (08/20), Dave will "look at final shit." Artwork, as conceived by Clown, will be worked on for real out in Iowa the weekend after Labor Day.

And The Way Beyond: Slipknot's third full length cd to be put into work come early 2003.

ODDS & ENDS - 07.29.2002

Here you go:

Resident Evil: Eyyyy, tomorrow (07/30), the Resident Evil dvd hits the streets. For all yinz Slipknot fans out there, the video for "My Plague" will be on this beast. One such online review of this dvd told of men in "rubber masks" appearing...obviously this cat is not as plugged in as the dude writing the Killswitch Engage blurb in REVOLVER.

BLOTTER - 07.24.2002

It's time to bring another Stone Sour track into the mix. So, of the 14 tracks which will appear on the Stone Sour debut, which one have we chosen? "Blotter."

What will be track #4 on the Stone Sour release, you can now find an MP3 download of the song "Blotter" in our MUSIC section. Why "Blotter"? To be honest, it was between that or "Orchids", both tracks which appear on the Stone Sour promotional metal radio sampler. Amy, our resident Queen Of Metal, made the decision to go with "Blotter" over "Orchids." Yes, though she does admit that "Orchids" is the heavier song, there is something within the texture of "Blotter" which made her sway the one way.

However, when asked if that meant she liked the one song better than the other, Amy retorted, "that's like asking me which is my favorite kid." Hmmmmm....for the record, Amy has no kids...

Enjoy the song.

Interesting Fact: A few months back, in a casual atmosphere, someone asked Jerry Cantrell which album of his is the one he likes best. Jerry answered, "that's like asking me which is my favorite kid." Well put...for the record, Jerry has no kids...

Stone Sour self titled debut in stores 8/27, debut video "Get Inside" online this Friday (7/26)

QUOTE OF THE DAY - 05.22.2002

Earlier today, a cd containing three audio mixes was delivered straight from London...those three audio mixes being "Liberate", "People=Shit", and "Left Behind/Eeyore", as recorded live from Slipknot's show at the London Arena in early February - the show which will be the basis for the band's upcoming dvd. Cranking from Dave's desk at 7:45pm are these three songs. Upon walking by, Dave tells, "You gotta admit, fuckin' first rate."

"It's just unbelievable, I'm fuckin' pumped right now. Colin Richardson totally schooled it," he continues.

This leads one to question, "Any overdubs on this live recording?"

"No FUCKIN' overdubs, dude," Dave snaps back. "100% band with chops that can play. They don't need overdubs, they nailed every song." Yes, Dave was present for the London show in which this was recorded.

"Get ready, this is gonna raise the bar for all future live recordings."

This is The Production Gospel According to Dave...Phase II is upon us...you have been warned...resistance is futile...Amen.

Slipknot dvd coming this fall

WHY BOTHER? - 05.10.2002

In stores now is the soundtrack to the motion picture Spider-Man. In case you don't already know, there is a song on the soundtrack titled "Bother". "Bother", as written and performed by Slipknot's Corey Taylor.

How did this come to be? What is the song all about? What does the song sound like? Answers to these questions and more can be found in our WILDCARD section.

Enjoy.

WHAT EXACTLY IS IN A NAME? - 05.07.2002

This past Friday (05/03), someone sent in an article from the London publication Reuters. The article was in reference to some confusion about another Slipknot group. Sunday (05/05), The Fax (Westwood One) wrote about it, too. Yesterday (05/06), in an article titled People = Knit: Slipknot Fans Attack Needle-Wielding Ladies, even MTV.com wrote about it...

So, what is 'it' that we speak of? Let us ask you a question: how many Slipknots out there do you know of? Well, for starters, we have the Slipknot we all know...you know who we're talking about.

But, apparently there is another Slipknot group out there. Based in Britain. An all female group. Over 1,000 members strong. Please welcome the other Slipknot, The Knitting & Crochet Guild Slipknot.

The members of this knitter's quarterly journal are not to be confused with the 9 guys that brought us "People=Shit". Some Roadrunner Slipknot fans, searching for info on the web, apparently stumbled across the knitter's info, sending some not to pleasant message to this British group. Secretary Anne Budworth tells "I don't know how anyone could confuse us with them. I haven't ever seen the band knitting." Agreed, and True.

"E-mails have been pretty unpleasant, telling us that we shouldn't be on the Internet with the word 'Slipknot," chair of The Knitting & Crochet Guild Rita Taylor tells.

"But we are not going to let it bother us," she added. That's right, chin up, ladies. The goal of this Slipknot group is "preserving and nurturing the skills of knitting and crochet."

So, how do you like that? You learn something new every day. Ladies, we wish you the best. Maggots and fans of the 'other' Slipknot, all our best goes out to you, too...and we ask you please wish the same to the lovely ladies of the Slipknot knitting & crochet guild.

TOUR NEWS FROM ABROAD - 05.02.2002

Slipknot: "SLIPKNOT PLAGUE READING & LEEDS," the headlines scream...

Other acts appearing over the weekend include: the Strokes, Pulp, Weezer, White Stripes, Guns N Roses (really?), Incubus, Offspring, Prodigy, Jane's Addiction, Foo Fighters, Muse, Ash, Sum 41, NOFX, and Andrew WK, with further special guests to be announced.

ROADRUNNER RECORDS FACT OF THE WEEK - 04.26.2002

Welcome to this week's installment of ROADRUNNER RECORDS FACT OF THE WEEK, as told by Senior VP of A&R, Monte Conner. So, what has Monte culled from his memoirs this week? We bring you Slipknot's First CD. And it goes like this:

Slipknot's first CD is called "Mate Feed Kill Repeat". It was recorded in 1996 and only 1,000 copies were pressed. Though it is widely available as a bootleg, original copies sell on eBay for as high as $450. The people that played on it were Joey (drums), Clown (percussion), Paul (bass), original singer Anders Colsefetti, and guitarist Josh Brainard. Josh also played on the Slipknot debut CD on Roadrunner and is pictured on the front cover in the black bondage mask. Some of the songs on "Mate Feed Kill Repeat" are: "Only One", "Slipknot" (which later became "(sic)"), "Gently", and a song called "Killers Are Quiet". The CD sounds little like the Slipknot you know and love today, so be careful before spending lots of money to get a copy. Chances are the band will never reissue it, as it is extremely rough sounding and really does not have a whole lot to do with The Knot of today.

put that in your pipe and smoke it...Until next week...

UPDATES FROM THE STUDIO - 04.12.2002

Slipknot - Clown will be heading back to England at the end of the month for more video edits in regards to the upcoming DVD. Colin Richardson is to start mixing the audio come 05/02 in London.

By the way, The Production Gospel According To Dave will be broadcasting live from Iowa next week. Yes, Dave will be meeting up with the band to discuss some Slipknot DVD details, on the band's home turf, during the latter part of next week.

BIGGEST FREAK OF ALL TIME - 04.05.2002

It was previously written that Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor hit the studio on his own to record a track titled "Bother", a track for possible inclusion on the upcoming Spiderman soundtrack. So, how did all this go down? Words from Corey Taylor are as follows:

"I've been trying to get on this soundtrack for a year. Anyone who knows me knows I am the biggest Spiderman freak of all time! I started putting the word out and said I'd do a song with someone else just to be on that soundtrack, that's how much it meant to me. I've been waiting since 1993 for this movie to come out and I had this song called 'Bother', which is me and an acoustic guitar.

"Last year I was like, 'Fuck it, I'll record it'. If nothing else it'd be just for me to have on record. So I recorded this song, sent it to my manager, he heard it and was like, 'Holy shit' and he took it to the girl who was putting the soundtrack together. She flipped, and so automatically I'm flying to LA to record this song and it was weird. It was the first time I've ever been in the studio doing anything by myself and on a professional level. It came out really good. This is a song I wrote seven years ago so I'm pretty happy with it."

So just what is this track "Bother" all about? Spiderman soundtrack, also featuring Chad Kroeger doing a song apart from Nickelback - "Hero" - in stores come the end of this month. April 30th, to be exact. The movie itself, featuring the ever lovely Kirsten Dunst, in theaters three days later on May 3rd.

UPDATES FROM THE STUDIO - 03.29.2002

Slipknot - in regards to their upcoming DVD, after the Japan tour dates concluded earlier this week, Clown and Paul made a stop off in London for the final edits of the concert footage.

IT'S HERE - 03.19.2002

The video for My Plague is up.

All live footage seen in this video comes from the show which was recorded at the London Arena back on February 16th...meaning you can also consider this a sneak peek at some of the live footage you will be seeing on the upcoming Slipknot DVD. All other footage that is not of the band or crowd, is from the Resident Evil movie, which is in theaters now. And of course, the version of "My Plague" which you hear on the video, is also available on the Resident Evil soundtrack, which is also in stores now.

Enjoy, as this is a video purely for the fans.

RESIDENT EVIL - 02.06.2002

Roadrunner Records is going to release the soundtrack to the upcoming movie - Resident Evil - on March 12th. Slipknot's totally re-cut version of My Plague, called the 'new abuse mix', will be leading this soundtrack. Other artists in this soundtrack include Ill Nino and Coal Chamber.

HAMBURG, GERMANY MADE SLIPKNOT HISTORY - 02.04.2002

Slipknot played a sold out show at The Docks in Hamburg on January 29th 2002. The show, venue and the people who witnessed it, are now part of Slipknot History as the band opened the set with 'Iowa'; which was only the second time the band has performed it since the recording of Iowa. This will never happen again.

The set in Hamburg wasn't as lengthy as usual. It consisted of 'Iowa', 'People=Shit', 'Disasterpiece', 'Eeyore', 'Heretic Anthem', 'Wait & Bleed', 'Sic' and 'Surfacing'. The band has promised to return to the venue to play a 'make-up' show later.

NEW DVD, NEW VERSION OF MY PLAGUE - 01.30.2002

DVD - Plans for an upcoming Slipknot DVD is in the works. On February 16th on Slipknot's current European tour, a crew will be filming the show for this effort at the London Arena. The DVD is expected to be released sometime in September.

Resident Evil - Slipknot's remake of the track "My Plague", called the 'new abuse mix', will be featured on the upcoming 03/12 release of the Resident Evil soundtrack AND featured in the movie itself. For this movie, which hits theaters on March 15th, the 'new abuse mix' of "My Plague" will be the first song played during its closing credits.

New Video - Word has it that from the live footage to be shot during the 02/16 show at London Arena, some of this live footage, spliced in with scenes from the Resident Evil movie, will be made into a video for "My Plague".
