SUBLIMINAL VERSES TOUR: THE FINAL VOLUME - 08.11.2005

SLIPKNOT is back in action mounting the SUBLIMINAL VERSES TOUR: THE FINAL VOLUME to wrap up the touring cycle on the band's current, critically-acclaimed album – VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES). The band is also poised to unleash an as-yet-untitled, a deluxe double disc package of live material from previous touring stints.

REVOLVER Magazine called SLIPKNOT one of their “Top 10 Best Live Bands Of All Time.” The Hollywood Reporter adds - "Everyone in the band is a great entertainer as well as a solid musician." This elite live status is further confirmed by Kerrang!'s nomination of SLIPKNOT for their 2005 BEST LIVE BAND award.

The multi-Platinum rockers can now add Top 20 ticket-sellers of 2005 to their list of achievements, having reached #17 on Pollstar's 2005-in-progress ticket sales list. The band is in great company, besting acts like Velvet Revolver, Judas Priest and Audioslave along with the multi-act Taste of Chaos tour among others. "Thanks to our fans, the Subliminal Verses World tour was the biggest and greatest tour of our career,” says drummer Joey Jordison. “To celebrate, we've decided to cap off this phase by doing a month-long tour this October/November, mainly in the Northeast and Midwest. As an added bonus, we'll be doing a few nights at some smaller clubs we wouldn't normally play. It'll be up front and in your face! Expect everything you know from us, but a lot of curveballs. Should be interesting. Hope you will join us soon for a few more nights of dysfunction."

To complement the band's intense live experience, they have selected 2 in-demand acts to open their shows. San Diego's As I Lay Dying come aboard supporting their critically acclaimed album Shadows Are Security. Ozzfest alums, Unearth, will also be supporting. They kick their touring into high gear on the FINAL VOLUME outing showcasing music from their punishing album The Oncoming Storm.

As a lasting record of the band's explosive live set, SLIPKNOT plan to release a live album later this year. This live recording was made from shows on their successful previous tours and will be augmented by material from upcoming dates to be played in Singapore. The double disc set will be in stores on November 1, 2005 and will contain new, special art from the creative minds of the band.

Catch SLIPKNOT on the road and experience what critics and fans alike are raving about for yourself!

THE SPECTRUM REVUE - 03.07.2005

This past weekend marked the start of Slipknot's Subliminal Verses tour with Shadows Fall and Lamb Of God. What to expect? A review of the Philly show (2nd date of the tour) tells:

"For starters, there were unseemly video loops such as that of a fingertip being lopped off by a razor blade, and the image of feasting maggots that accompanied the battle cry 'Pulse of the Maggots,' which the band's fans - endearingly referred to as maggots - greeted with knowing adoration instead of revulsion.

"Joey Jordison's drum solo was captivating both technically and visually. As he frantically worked every bit of his giant double-bass kit, a hydraulic lift suspended him at a 90-degree tilt, then spun him 360 degrees while he kept on flailing, never missing a beat."

What more? You can check out the whole review online at www.philly.com.

Slipknot appeared at the Grammys last Sunday (PHOTO) and of course, anywhere Slipknot goes, they turned heads, including that of rap star Jadakiss.

Here's what MTV.com reported:
"Slipknot walked the carpet wearing their signature masks, and gave the cameras a very metal greeting — the finger. This being a special occasion, the bandmembers donned black suits, and one upped his style a notch by carrying a pimp cane. Jadakiss, standing with his crew near the masked men, asked, "Who are these n---as?" One of Jada's people clued him in, and the rapper responded, "Oh, they gonna win the most tonight."

Slipknot were nominated in the Hard Rock and Metal category for "Vermilion" and "Duality" respectively. At the end of the night, Slipknot left empty-handed, but their presense was definately felt at the Grammys.

What will you be listening to/watching this Halloween? Corey Taylor shares his Halloween 2004 picks:

Corey Taylor, Slipknot:

"How much time you got? Mine would be a toss-up between the original Psycho (1960) and probably Chainsaw. But a classic, dude, is the first Halloween (1978). It's so fuckin' brutally spooky. On a personal level, probably the scariest movie of all time is the original Jaws (1975). I have a serious fear of sharks, man."

URGENT EUROPEAN TOUR NEWS - 09.26.2004

We've made it thru 10 years without a member of Slipknot missing a single show, but due to emergency medical reasons one of our brothers has been forced to return to Des Moines, IA.

Craig Jones #133,(#5), has been suffering incredible pain during the first week of our European tour and has been unable to eat or sleep properly. Therefore, a decision was made for him to return to the States for emergency dental surgery.

We made a band decision to continue the tour without Craig and to not let our European fans and friends down. The shows and fans, on this tour, have been some of the most insane of our career and we look forward to that each night.

We expect to have 133 rejoin the tour within the next 3-4 weeks, but until that time Sid Wilson will be handling the majority of his parts.

We'll miss him on and off stage and wish him the best and a safe return.

2 HEADED MONSTER - 09.15.2004

What do you know about "Vermilion" and "Vermilion Pt. 2" off Slipknot's Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)? Your knowledge on the subject is about to expand...

The song "Vermilion" begins the story of obsession, and "Vermilion Pt. 2" is a haunting continuation of the story. The melody and the overriding theme run through both versions, making them integral pieces to the same complex puzzle. "The differences (between the 2 tracks) are subtle – Vermilion Pt. 1 is about the enrapturing, the buildup, the anticipation and the neurosis," says Corey Taylor. "Part 2 is the aftermath, the pieces that have to be picked up later, and maybe the guilt of having lived through it."

A separate video was shot for each version of the track in Los Angeles in late-August. The clip for "Vermilion" was directed by Tony Petrossian and M. Shawn Crahan, co-directors of the "Duality" video. The video for "Vermilion Pt. 2" is being directed by Mark Klasfeld. Expect both videos to surface simultaneously sometime in October, and expect to see another side of Slipknot you have never seen before.

The concept of the "Vermilion" video follows a young woman whose life is completely out of phase with the rest of the world. For every day that goes by her, she grows further away from her imprint of time in this reality. All she can do is stand alone and contemplate her isolation. Throughout the video, the only things in balance are her visions of the members of Slipknot in her subconscious. "This is REAL," says Clown. "We chose to go down an artistic wormhole, and give our fans a beginning look of what else lies within our thought process. Whereas "Duality" captured the real intimacy of what we share with our fans, with "Vermilion," we finalize that chapter by grabbing a hold of our fans and taking them deeper into the experience of Slipknot. It's all starting over again – THIS IS REAL!"

A NOTE FROM OZZFEST - 07.29.2004

(the following excerpt - taken from seattlepi.com - is in regards to the 7/27 Ozzfest show at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn, WA.)

In one of the more bizarre scenes from a day full of bizarre scenes, a man in a wheelchair actually surfed the roiling mosh pit as Slipknot launched into the buzz-saw tune "Heretic Anthem."

"I thought I'd seen it all but that's some serious (bleep) right there," said Slipknot screamer Corey Taylor.

JAMES ROOT SLIPKNOT JACKET - 07.21.2004

Dirtbag Clothing recently made a run of tour jackets for Slipknot, a small run just for band and crew. Well, the jacket that was intended for James Root can now be your jacket. James personally signed it, and in honor Chris Ackerman of the Metal Mulisha, the jacket is being auctioned away. GO TO THIS LINK AT EBAY TO MAKE JAMES' SLIPKNOT JACKET YOURS.

All proceeds will be donated directly to assist in the recovery of Chris Ackerman. Chris Ackerman, former General Manager of the Metal Mulisha suffered life-threatening injuries while riding in the Dunes of Dumont on March 17, 2003. Immediately after emergency crews reached the accident site and were able to stabilize Chris' condition, he was immediately escorted to nearby Baker via ambulance. A waiting military Black Hawk helicopter then delivered Chris to Loma Linda University Hospital where it was confirmed that he had sustained very serious injuries. Not limited to, but most grave included the breaking of the C2 in his neck, collapsed lungs, various stresses to the spinal cord and the breaking of his pelvis.

RAY CHARLESE / KsE / SLIPKNOT - 06.18.2004

Amongst your travels, check out the NEW FACES feature in the new issue of Rolling Stone, the one with Ray Charles (R.I.P.) on the cover. Therein, you will find a piece on Killswitch Engage and learn that if it looks like metal and sounds like metal, it's probably metal.

You will also find a brief piece titled Enter Skinmen...yes, you guessed it, tis about Slipknot's Joey Jordison filling in for Lars Ulrich during the Download festival earlier this month. Therein you will learn "Ride The Lighting taught me how to play drums," as Jordison tells.

MTX MOTOCROSS - 06.11.2004

As you may know, a b-side from Slipknot's Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) release - "Don't Get Close" - was featured on Activision's MTX Mototrax game released in March (technically marking the first sounds heard from the new Slipknot recordings). But what you might not know, is that there are some cheat codes that can be used in the game...

86657457 - This code allows players to race as a Slipknot maggot, on a customized Slipknot motorcycle.

23F7IC5 - This passcode let's users see a short Slipknot movie.

True. Check it out.

REVOLVER BOOTLEG SERIES, TAKE I - 06.07.2004

Not to look too far ahead, as the current issue of Revolver on the street does feature Slipknot on its cover and insides...BUT, the upcoming August issue of Revolver Magazine (the Ozzfest 2004 issue) features some goods as well, including rare Machine Head and DevilDriver tracks. In particular, the demo version of Machine Head's "Left Unfinished" (which is noticeably different from the studio version of the track on their Through The Ashes Of Empires release) and a previously unreleased DevilDriver track called "Digging Up The Corpses."

How to get? Check out http://www.revolvermag.com/ and look for the Bootleg Series link.

Oh, the issue also contains a pic of Gorgoroth frontman Gaahl and news of his unfortunate prison sentence (for kicking and hitting a 41-year-old man in the face and drinking his blood - if that ain't metal, what is?).

Anyway, lots of good to be found in the issue, make sure to check it out.

And make sure to check out THIS LINK at MTV.com to vote for the Best Metal Videos of the New Millennium (so far) (hopefully it just happens to be a RR act's video you choose), and check out http://www.meanstreet.com/article.php?article_id=252&issue_id=53 for a great new piece on Slipknot.

MAKING METAL HISTORY - 06.07.2004

Yesterday (06/06) at the 2nd annual Donington Park Download festival, Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison made a bit of metal history: Joey played drums for Metallica. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich was not present at the festival (Lars was apparently hospitalized earlier in the day), a festival that Metallica was to headline. Drummers from other bands on the bill were auditioned on the spot, and Joey - along with Slayer's Dave Lombardo and Lars' drum tech Flemming Larsen - were chosen for the gig (Joey getting the majority of the playing time).

So, in mask and all, Joey was Metallica's drummer for the night. Metal History. Make note of it, and store it away for future use. Metallica's set list for the night (along with drummer for each song) is as follows:

01. Battery (w/ Lombardo)
02. The Four Horsemen (w/ Lombardo)
03. For Whom The Bell Tolls (w/ Jordison)
04. Creeping Death (w/ Jordison)
05. Seek And Destroy (w/ Jordison)
06. Fade To Black (w/ Flemming Larsen)
07. Wherever I May Roam (w/ Jordison)
08. Last Caress (w/ Jordison)
09. Sad But True (w/ Jordison)
10. Nothing Else Matters (w/ Jordison)
11. Enter Sandman (w/ Jordison)

Pics from the night can be seen HERE.

FIRST TIME - 06.02.2004

Slipknot...Nickelback...Killswitch Engage...

The above bands all have something in common this week. Care to guess? All three bands are currently in the Top 10 on Billboard's Top Hard Rock Chart. Slipknot's Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) is at #1, Nickelback's The Long Road is at #5, and Killswitch Engage's The End Of Heartache is #10. True.

In fact, for the first time in the history of Soundscan (since 1992), this marks the first time that Roadrunner Records has had 3 of the top 10 releases on Billboard's Top Hard Rock chart. Also true.

DIGITAL-NOISE - 05.27.2004

Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, DevilDriver...all of these three bands have something in common. Well, technically they have a few things in common, but for the purpose of this update, the common thread we are looking for is that they are all currently featured online at http://www.digital-noise.net/.

Check it out - interview with Dez Fafara, plus reviews on the latest releases from Slipknot and Killswitch Engage.

Enjoy.
